Don’t Underestimate the Power of Gratitude

During difficult circumstances, we need the encouragement Scripture provides. Gratitude can be "life-changing."
Situations in our lives and in our world can leave us feeling hopeless, frustrated, and unhappy.

But I’d like to give you a challenge, a biblical challenge: everyday before bed, remember at least one good thing in your life and thank God for that thing.

God says

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

That means we can give thanks, not for our bad circumstances, but in the midst of them.

“Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17

That means we can gratefully dedicate everything we do to the Lord, even during times of confusion and uncertainty.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

That means we can take our worries to the Lord, be thankful He is always with us, and ask for His help in dealing with our problems.

Christian contentment isn’t dependent on circumstances it's dependent on the strength we receive from our Lord (Philippians 4:13).

Don’t forget: before you go to bed tonight, acknowledge at least one "good" thing about your day and thank God for it!

    1. Hi Unknown, I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but God is Who He says He is, not who we "want Him to be."

Perhaps you mean that God is adequate to meet all of our spiritual needs. If so, that's true.

But if you mean we can make God whoever we want Him to be, that's not true at all.
