When God Speaks to Your Heart

Sometimes God "personalizes" Scripture verses for us. This 1-minute devotion offers one example that should encourage you. #Bible #BibleLoveNotes

We need to be careful and humble when claiming God has spoken to us.(1) We are flawed human beings who don't always hear God clearly.

But we can rest assured that God teaches, rebukes, corrects, and trains us through Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16).

And sometimes God personalizes His Word, giving us insight into our specific circumstances.

For example: Several years ago, after moving away from family to volunteer with a ministry, my husband and I felt God personalized Mark 10:29-31, promising us blessings “and with them persecutions.”

I'm glad God personalized this passage because it prepared, challenged, and comforted us.

Many people ask God to give them a passage of Scripture each new year or each birthday so they can focus on the principles it teaches throughout the year. It's a good idea.

Don't be afraid to ask God to guide you in any situation, and always be listening for His voice when you read Scripture. He often personalizes a passage for your circumstances.

Please note: God never, never, never speaks anything to our hearts that contradicts Scripture, and the safest way to gain direction from God is through His written Word. It's one of the Holy Spirit's jobs to help us understand God's truth (John 16:12-15).

  1. Awesome. Thanks a lot for this. God's voice can never go contrary to His words in the Scriptures.
