Perhaps the most prevalent heresy in the modern church is the belief that Christianity comes without responsibility.
Salvation is based on faith, not works.
But salvation always leads to obedience and works.
Obedience prompted by faith:
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” Romans 6:1-2
"Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness." 2 Timothy 2:19
"We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands." 1 John 2:3
Works prompted by faith:
“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:17
We are “created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).
Let's take our faith seriously because we serve a Savior who is worthy of our best efforts (Philippians 2:12).
