Why Muslims Can’t Believe Jesus was a Prophet

Why Muslims Can’t Believe Jesus was a Prophet

Almost daily I hear something about Muslims believing in Jesus as a prophet.

It’s not true.

Jesus can't be one of their prophets because they don't believe what He taught.

He claimed:

1. He existed before Abraham (John 8:56-58), is one with God (John 10:30), and is Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8).(1)

2. He is the Messiah, the giver of eternal life (John 5:21; 10:24-28), who came to be sacrificed and resurrected (Matthew 12:40; Matthew 16:21).

3. He is the only way of salvation (John 10:9; 11:25; 14:6; 14:23).

4. He insisted all evangelism should be done in His authority according to His teachings (Matthew 28:16-20).

As C.S. Lewis wrote: “You can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us.”

Christ's prophetic words demand that we believe He is God, the only way of salvation.

(1) He also accepted worship as God (Matthew 28:9; Matthew 28:16-17; John 20:28).
