Have you ever wondered at the meaning of the phrase "spittin' image"?
Some experts believe it started as “splitting image,” a reference to the mirror effect of wood grain when it's split.
Others believe it originated as "spirit."
I'm voting for this last possibility because it's a good reminder that mankind is the only part of God’s creation made in His "spirit image."
"God created mankind in his own image..." Genesis 1:27.
For example:
1. We're Creative
We can design, build, paint, sculpt.
2. We're Intelligent
We can plan, reason, think critically.
3. We're Communicative
We can speak, write and sing.
4. We're Relational
We can have meaningful relationships with God and others.
5. We're Loving
We are capable of love.
6. We're Spiritual Beings.
We're not simply products of evolution.
It's interesting that Scripture compares God's Word to a mirror (James 1:23-24). In order to reflect God's image we must look into His Word and obey what it says .
