Hypocritical Blame-Shifting

People love blaming Christianity and the Bible for bad things in our world. But this example is absolutely ridiculous.

I recently read an article claiming the sexual sins of a prominent Christian were due to his strict fundamentalist upbringing.

Really?!

If we list people convicted for sex crimes, we'll find the list of Hollywood and sports stars is far longer than the list of fundamentalist Christians. But I don't hear anyone saying that acting or sports cause sexual sins.

When something bad happens, we often look for someone to blame. And Christianity has become a popular scapegoat. But here's the truth:

“Each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”
James 1:13-15

Mankind is fallen. People are sinners. When someone sins, they are fully responsible. Nothing they are taught, whether strict or lenient, forces them to sin.

Ironically, our culture is the first to promote and glorify sin, the first to yell "judge not," and the first to judge Christians, Christianity, and the Bible.

Let's refuse their ridiculous explanations
 (Colossians 2:8).

  1. How absolutely spot on true. How will one ever learn from your mistakes if you don't take responsibility for them. Thank you very much for an awesome post.
