Bible Vitamins

A fun way to share Bible verses with a child - Make them "Bible Vitamins"

Would you like a fun idea for sharing Christ with the children in your life? This idea is great for parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, Sunday School teachers, or friends.

This isn't an original idea. I heard about it many years ago. And it worked wonderfully for me when my grandchildren were small.

1. Cut strips of colored paper - I used colored index cards.

2. Write short Bible verses or notes of encouragement on each strip.

3. Buy a small plastic pill box with an opening for each day. I used the most colorful ones I could find.

4. fold the strips and put one in each day.

When this was done, I gave the pill boxes to my grandchildren and told them to read one note each day. Then, I asked them to write something about the verse on the back of the strip and return it to the compartment in the pill holder.

At the end of each week, they'd return the box to me so I could read their notes and refill their boxes with new notes. It was special for all of us. And sometimes it lead to deeper discussions about God.

Is there a child in your life who needs a daily "vitamin" from God's Word?

  2. This is a lovely idea. I think most children adore and admire their grandparents, sometimes preferring them to their discipline-wielding parents! That means that they are more likely to be attentive to messages like this if grandparents espouse them. I remember watching my grandma fall asleep while praying her rosary every day after lunch. To this day, that is one of my favorite devotions. It recalls peace, faith and trust, and since it was practiced by a grandmother I was devoted to, it is something worth imitating!
