“‘The first man, Adam, became a living person.’ But the last Adam—that is, Christ—is a life-giving Spirit ... Earthly people are like the earthly man, and heavenly people are like the heavenly man. Just as we are now like the earthly man, we will someday be like the heavenly man.” 1 Corinthians 15:45-49
Believers are in process of becoming like Christ, moving from earthly to heavenly people. And we achieve that goal by:
1. Knowing God's Word.
God’s Word is perfect, sure, right, pure, true, desirable, and sweet making us wise, enlightening us, and warning us (Psalm 19:7-11). It is a key element in our growth in Christ.
2. Standing firm in our faith .
Growing in Christ means standing firm even when we face difficulty and persecution.
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
3. Continually seeking to know Christ better.
As Paul explained, “Everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ” (Philippians 3:8).
