My granddaughters love to bake, and that means there will be flour on the floor along with an occasional gooey egg shell. It also means it will take twice as long as when I bake alone.
If my goal were simply to make cookies, I could do it easier, cleaner, and more efficiently without their help.
It makes me think about our Lord. He lets us make our messes, let’s us do things He could do easier without us.
God is willing to deal with the mess because we’re His children and He wants to help us grow and learn and be productive. And I imagine He enjoys it as much as I enjoy baking with my granddaughters.
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” 1 John 3:1
I am blessed to be featured on my friend Lori's blog today (9/4/12). Lori is a published author, editor of Reach Out Columbia, and an excellent writer. Take a look at her great blog called Be Not Weary.
1000 Gifts: I'm so thankful that God considers us (me) worth the mess!

You have such sweet granddaughters. What a lovely reminder of how God is patient with our messes and blessed by watching us. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteAww how sweet! Thanks for this great reminder...not only what God allows us to do, but to take time with our children and grandchildren. The time with them is so short!
ReplyDeleteYour granddaughters are such cutie pies. How blessed we are that we have a Father that cares for us. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful story and way to spend time with the kids.
ReplyDeleteSweet pictures & what a beautiful point you have made here. I am so glad He thinks we are worth the mess! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, today I made a real mess of things so I needed this reminder for sure! (PS thanks for linking up at Motivating Monday on CEO of Me!)
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up this special post over at WholeHearted Home Wednesdays over at Haven of Rest this week. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThat is a really good point! I have never made that connection before. It also makes me realize just how much patience He has. Because He KNOWS I am not very patient when it comes to cooking with my kids. I can make a lot bigger mess of life than I can cooking. What a wonderful Lord. It always bring tears to my eyes when I think about how much He has forgiven and how much he loves. Thanks for sharing at Mom's Library!
