“Well, God and I are fine, and that’s all that matters.”
The leader of a short-term mission trip had kindly, privately confronted a team member about inappropriate behavior, and this was the unrepentant man's response.
This individual had repeatedly complained, ignored directions, and bent the rules. He'd taken advantage of other team members and been culturally insensitive. Ironically, this same man was known for passionately expressing his love for Christ in public meetings, often with tears in his eyes.
This is an easy trap for any of us—thinking outward expressions of love make up for inward rebellion.
But Jesus defined genuine love for God when He said, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments” (John 14:15).
Help us, Lord, to truly love You and to show our love through obedience to Your commands.

So much is excused in our country!! What a good reminder to take to heart.
ReplyDeleteThe picture you chose captures your message so well. Thank you.
I love this message. Its been watered down so much these days, that people are being ensnared by sin to the point of losing intamacy with Christ. Thank you for your willingness to speak truth qt a time when the truth is not "politically correct". Yet doing so gently and lovingly. I also love the picture you chose. To see Christian men rising up warms my heart and brings me to tears.
ReplyDeleteSo convicting. Being teachable is an art and act of great discipline. I want to stay teachable. Many times I fail. Thank God for Grace!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kathy, please keep up the good work and don't compromise what matters for what is popular. It is not that easy to follow Jesus. Those who choose to do so need all the help and love they can get. One thing I do know, there is no one like our God. We cannot trust any human but as long as we are faithful, God is always, always faithful. Be blessed everyone!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this gentle reminder that God must be first in our life and we should be always striving to please him.
ReplyDeletePlease pray for me I struggle with porn
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, Unknown, that I'm just getting this comment. My comments weren't published for several months. But I know that God knows who you are and what your struggles are, and I lift you in prayer right now that you will realize that you can do all things through Christ who gives you His strength.
DeleteI think this is among the most significant info for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad it was helpful!
