So many misunderstandings come from Christians getting our “timeline” confused.
➤ Christ has overcome death, sin, Satan, and sickness. But we deal with all of these things while on earth.(1)
➤ We have all of the knowledge we need to live godly lives here and now, but we still don't see things clearly.(2)
➤ We think an Old Testament judgment of God is harsh until we put it in the context of the whole story.(3)
➤ We get confused about Old Testament laws, which are permanent and which were temporary.(4)
➤ There is no more condemnation for Christians because we have been made holy by Christ's death, but God still rebukes, disciplines, and punishes us here on earth because we won't be sinless until heaven.(5)
So let's not get ahead of God and let's not lag behind Him! God's timing is perfect (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
💙Beyond 1-minute for those who want more:
(1) See John 16:33, Is Healing an Earthly Promise? and the Healing Collection.
(2) "His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." 2 Peter 1:3
But: "Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely." 1 Corinthians 13:12
(3) If we read the whole Old Testament, we see that our God is incredibly patient, giving people and nations ample warnings before enacting His punishments against them. See The Timing of God's Punishments.
(4) A great deal of mockery from non-Christians and ex-vangelicals is based on misunderstandings about Old Testament laws. And several "Christian cults" are based on misunderstandings about Old Testament laws. See Christ's Complete Fulfillment of the Law, Muddled Views of God, Scripture, and Women, and Which Old Testament Laws Apply Today?
(5) God “forgets” our sins legally, which has nothing to do with His memory because He's still well aware
of our struggles, our sin patterns, and each and every sin we commit. See We Must Define "Forget" Correctly and Does He Only See Jesus? and Discipline, Punishment, Condemnation.
