Are you dealing with injustice, sorrow, tragedy, or discouragement even though you have been faithful to the Lord?
These things can be baffling and devastating but 1 Peter 3:14-18 offers an answer:
“If you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. ‘Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.’ But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord…For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.”
1 Peter 2:19 puts it more concisely: “It is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God.”
Hebrews 12 calls it "fixing our eyes" on Jesus.
Life is often confusing, difficult, and disappointing. But we can deal with it if we keep our focus on Jesus who suffered unjustly for our sake.
As the psalmist so aptly explained: "Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." Psalm 42:5
