Jesus said, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.”(1)

Does that mean Jonah is the only proof we need that God exists?

No. Jesus was making an analogy.

“For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."

"...as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation.”(2)

Jesus' death and resurrection was the pinnacle of human history.

It was perfectly timed (1 Timothy 2:6).

It was the richest act of grace and the only solution for our sin problem (Ephesians 1:7).

It was an eternal gift (John 3:16).

It was the most costly gift of all time (1 Corinthians 6:20; Matthew 26:38 & 42).

No other sign is needed for men to believe.
