Being human was once a good thing. Made in the image of God, we perfectly reflected our Creator.
But Adam and Eve changed that.
Sin damaged us, causing us to be born in Adam's image, an imperfect reflection of God (Genesis 5:1-3).
"I'm only human" became our excuse.
Then Jesus became human.
And everything changed.
"I'm only human" ceased to be an excuse and became a decision.
We still have a sinful human nature, but we can "throw off" our old sinful nature "corrupted by lust and deception" and renew our thoughts and attitudes and "put on" our "new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy." Ephesians 4:22-24
I'm only human, but I don't have to be.
