The Wages of Sin

A True Story that proves Crime Doesn't Pay, and a Scriptural truth that proves it doesn't pay even if you don't get caught. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

A man in Mesa, Arizona, decided to steal gas from a parked car. But in the process:
  • He caught fire.
  • He jumped into his truck to flee.
  • His truck caught fire.
  • He jumped out of his truck.
  • His truck ran into a house.
  • The house caught fire.
For $20-30 of gas, he lost his truck, broke his arm, burned his body, incurred high-cost damages to a house, and was arrested for a felony.

Many people steal and “get away with it” in the earthly realm, but in the spiritual realm, they do more damage than this gas thief. They "set fire to their souls" because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

Thieves and swindlers will not enter heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

But there's good news: they can “arrest themselves” (i.e. confess, repent, and take responsibility for their sins) and receive the gift of God which is eternal life (Romans 6:231 Corinthians 6:11).

Sometimes we look negatively at God's commands, forgetting they are loving, grace-filled warnings to prevent us from catching fire.

Today I'm thanking God for His "fire-prevention" in my life. How about you? (See Fingers in the Flames.)

  1. Hi Gail, great truth here. Someone has been trying to do damage to us for the last 5 1/2 years and it seems that thus far he has gotten away with it. But I believe with everything that is in me, God sees it and will deal with it. And at the same time, for every harm he has tried to cause us, God has prospered us. There is a scripture that says the evil man does all he can to harm but the righteous are peaceful and prosper and he gets frustrated as all his plans come to naught. God's way is the best way and what He says, He will do.
    God bless

  2. Hi Gail,

Thanks for visiting my blog, and I am glad I found your blog. It is comforting to know that God knows all, and nothing ever escapes His notice...it is also a warning.
    Blessings,

  3. Yes, as Dolly said, it is comforting to know that nothing escapes God's notice. It is amazing how you come up with such excellent comparisons. It really helps in remembering your point.
