Finding Spiritual Meaning in My Hip Replacement

I needed a hip replacement and so many aspects of this major surgery reminded me of my faith...Let me explain. #hipreplacement #Bible #Jesus

Before my hip replacement, I attended a pre-op class where they explained the procedure, told me what kind of activities to avoid, what medicines they use, what exercises to do, and how to avoid complications.

This was a major event for me - removing my dysfunctional hip joint and replacing it with a new one. It would revolutionize my ability to walk without pain or limitations.

I saw this as a great analogy for my walk with the Lord. Putting off the old hip and putting on the new one reminds me of putting off the old self and putting on the new (Ephesians 4:21-24).

Before I came to the Lord, I often stumbled over false views of right and wrong, tripped over cultural lies, and sometimes fell hard on temptations.

When I committed my life to the Lord, God’s Word was my pre-op guide (Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16-17), explaining my need to build my spiritual muscles with a quiet time and regular spiritual therapy sessions in godly fellowship (Hebrews 10:24-25).

In addition, Scripture warned me to avoid the dangerous “complications” of sin and bad influences.

These things have revolutionized my spiritual walk giving me the ability to walk away from compromise and stay on the narrow path of God’s purposes.

My hip replacement was a life-changing event, but nothing compared to knowing the Lord.💙

Why not take some time today to ponder all that God has done in your life!
