We take so much for granted. Very often we don't miss something until we're deprived of it.
We typically complain about the bad things and take the good things for granted.
The Bible tells us to rejoice in all circumstances, even bad ones because we know God will work them for good if we love Him (1 Thess. 5:18; Romans 8:28).
But we often don’t even rejoice in the good things.
Do you have a faithful spouse?
Good friends?
Loving children?
Freedom of worship?
Health?
Eyesight?
Hearing?
Enough to eat?
A place to sleep?
Electricity, heat, air conditioning?
Hot and cold running water?
You may not have all of these, but think how much you'd miss the ones you have if they were gone.
When was the last time you thanked God for any of them?
Let’s rejoice in our daily tasks, praying with thanksgiving (Philippians 4:4; Philippians 4:6; Colossians 3:17).

Thank you, just what I needed to be reminded of today. Fill my heart with gratitude.
ReplyDeleteWhenever someone ask me, "How are you?" I reply, "I am blessed and highly favored." Usual response is, "Wow, did you win the lottery?" I respond, "No, I woke up in my bed, in my home and my car started." Then sometimes I get the following response..."I guess I am blessed too." A young homeless man comes to our church. One day he was sitting next to me in church and we were suppose to tell our neighbor what we were thankful for. He was struggling to come up with an answer. I said, "I am thankful that I had gas in my car to get to church." He pondered and responded, "I am thankful that I have shoes to walk around this town."
ReplyDeleteYou are SO RIGHT!! I've gone without some of the above things and still don't have some of them (the things in the reading) but I am truly grateful every day for The Least of These! I LOVE your response when ppl ask you How are you? I am truly blessed and highly favored! Thanks for cheering my day! :)
DeleteSo good. I wish you could expand on this for an UPGRADE post. It's such a needed subject. We all need to UPGRADE our Gratitude Attitude! Thanks, Gail.
