3 Aspects of Our Transformation

Paul's greeting in Titus 1:1 explains that faith + knowledge of God's Word = godliness:

"Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness…."

When we listen to God's Spirit (Romans 8:12-13) and refuse to conform to the world, we are transformed by renewing our minds (Romans 12:2). Here are three ways we do that:

1. We guard our eyes.

"I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar." Psalm 101:3

We can and should avoid any form of entertainment that glorifies or romanticizes immorality. (See No Shades of Grey and Are You Enjoying Popular Pornography?)

2. We guard our mouth.

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."  Ephesians 4:29

We speak in ways that honor God, sharing His truths graciously but firmly. (See Seasoned with Salt and 6 Christian Rules of Speech.)

3. We guard our ears (minds).

"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ." Colossians 2:8

God's Word helps us recognize false teachings (Psalm 119:105). (See

When we guard our eyes, our mouths, and our ears, we ultimately guard our hearts! (Proverbs 4:23)
