Are You Feeding Your Soul?

This 1-minute devotion talks about our need for daily nutrition from God's Words, explaining the "junk food" that gets in the way.

When kids eat snacks all day, they usually don't have room for dinner.

This is a good analogy for our spiritual diet.

We must not let television, sports, and other types of entertainment crowd out Bible study, prayer time, and Christian fellowship.

We should make sure we're getting a nutritious serving from God's Word before we start on dessert. Otherwise, our souls will become malnourished, and we'll be unable to make wise decisions or deal biblically with life's challenges.

And we should avoid “junk food” altogether—those things that waste our time or cause us to compromise our values!

The prophet Jeremiah struggled with difficult tasks, and he fully understood the importance of God's Word in his daily diet:

"Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart. Jeremiah 15:16

Our souls prosper and our spiritual and emotional needs are met when we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).

We need God's Word more than we need our daily bread (Matthew 4:4), so let's taste and see that the LORD is good (Psalm 34:8).
