Created in God's Image, But....

You and I and every human being are created in God's image (Genesis 1:27). But when Adam and Eve sinned, they damaged and distorted that image. 

Proof of this damage comes to a head in Genesis 6 when God had to send the Flood so that evil did not overtake all of mankind.

“The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.  The LORD regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.” Genesis 6:5-6

Sometimes we forget how sin grieves our loving God. It makes His grace and forgiveness even more meaningful. 

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”  2 Corinthians 5:17 

When we become Christians, we start an important process to restore our souls to better reflect the image of God. 

“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Philippians 2:12-13

Take time today to sincerely thank the Lord for His loving redemption and restoration!
