There's a common misunderstanding among Christians, and I'm sometimes guilty of it myself.
It's thinking that because we're believers, God will make all of our problems disappear, whether they involve finances, health, relationships, or any other area of life. It's the belief that our eternity should start now.
Of course, Scripture doesn't support this.
Jesus defeated Satan, sin, death, sickness, evil, pain, suffering and sorrow in the spiritual realm when He died and rose again. But the full revelation of that victory won't come until heaven (Hebrews 2:5-9).
Christ explains it this way:
“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
We're in the process of receiving eternity, and our lives are filled with wonderful blessings that we should gratefully acknowledge (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
But we still experience testing, trials, struggles and attacks (Ephesians 6:12; Hebrews 12).
Our world and our bodies are in bondage to decay, but “our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18-25).
So let's live with eternity in mind, but let's remember we aren't there yet!
