Note: The terms WOKE and CRT (Critical Race Theory) have been used for a variety of things both past and present, some legitimate (especially in years past) and some bigoted (especially in our current culture). I'm specifically addressing the most dominant bigoted attitudes and bad "solutions" these beliefs have inspired regarding racial problems. And I'm specifically addressing the bigoted forms of these beliefs in the Christian community.
✞✞✞
Imagine a well-known white pastor saying this in a public interview: “To be totally honest, it's difficult for me sometimes not to just torch all black people, specifically black Christians.”
Bigotry will never completely disappear, but hearing a Christian pastor make such a hateful statement should shock us!
Now let's read a quote from a 2020 interview with black pastor, Mike Kelsey. Kelsey pastors at the influential McLean Bible Church in the D.C. area:
“To be totally honest, it's difficult for me sometimes not to just torch all white people, specifically white evangelicals and Christians.” (source)
Kelsey promotes WOKE beliefs, and in this interview after George Floyd's death, he showed that WOKE philosophy inspires hatred, not love. He did apologize for this quote when word got out about it, but he continues to teach WOKE philosophy.
We’ve come so far in this country regarding equality and fairness. We still have a ways to go, but WOKE teachings want to take us backward.
WOKE is black supremacy, and neither black nor white supremacy has a place in the body of Christ (Galatians 3:27-28)!
So let's wake up and listen to God and admit that no race is superior. Whites have done shameful things and godly things in the past and in the present. The same is true for blacks and every other race. No one is responsible for their ancestors' sins (Ezekiel 18:20; Romans 14:10).

If you want to check out this interview with Kelsey, you can listen or read the transcript here: Where Do We Go From Here? I listened to this interview from start to finish, and it was confusing and contradictory. If you pull out some of Kelsey's quotes, he sounds biblical. If you pull out others, he sounds bigoted. It's as if his spirit is in conflict, knowing his bigotry is wrong but being unable to turn from it. Making statements like Kelsey's statement is a serious sin (Matthew 12:36). Please pray for him and others who hold this view.
To read more about the way WOKE is affecting the church, you can read about Latasha Morrison in Beware of the IF Gathering. She is a regular speaker at this annual Christian women's event that reaches many thousands of women around the globe. She explains in her Facebook group that people of color should have a right to "wail, cuss, or even yell at" any/all whites because "Jesus didn’t hold back when he saw hypocrisy and oppression." It's disturbing to compare anything Christ did to wailing and cussing.
