Third Oldest Sin: You Can Run, But You Can’t Hide
After Eve rejected God’s command and Adam succumbed to ungodly peer pressure, they committed the third oldest sin in the book.(1) They tried to hide from God (Genesis 3:8-10).
Adam claimed he was hiding because his nakedness made him afraid of God, but he’d always been naked. It was his sin that sent him to the bushes.(2)
Instead of repenting, Adam and Eve hid.
We do the same thing when we try to ignore, excuse, or justify our sins. Like Adam, we miss this important truth: we can run, but we can’t hide from God.
"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." ~ Hebrews 4:13
Repentance brings us out of hiding and allows God to cover our naked sins with His garment of forgiveness (Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1:9).
Are you "hiding" in any area of your life? Come out!

(2) When Adam and Eve sinned, it completely changed their view of everything, including their nakedness. Previously, they'd been "naked, but they felt no shame" because they were completely innocent and sinless (Genesis 2:25). They had no evil thoughts when they looked at the other's nakedness, nor did they have any insecurities when they looked at their own nakedness. But sin brought impurity into their thoughts. Sadly, Adam and Eve expressed no sorrow for their sins.

That's why I think humility is the greatest virtue: to admit our mistakes and sins. Instead of being prideful: to think we do everything perfect, that we are like God.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a miracle if men and women of today would consider how they dress. Even in Church where modesty should show Honor to God, needs to be a major consideration. JKH
ReplyDelete@ Kayla; Jesus ministered to prostitutes where they were. He met people where they were at. I am grateful for whoever comes to church to hear the living word is taught. We are at different places on our spiritual journey. Perhaps give the Lord praise for the prodigals who return and more sheep want to join the fold. If the word takes hold GOD will take care of the rest just as HE has for us.
