Years ago there was a popular Christian bumper sticker that said, "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven"
Recently I've heard Christians saying "Don't call yourself a sinner because you're saved and forgiven."
There's some truth and some error in both statements.
True: we aren't perfect.
But: We aren't just forgiven. We're equipped, strengthened, and empowered to become better people (Romans 12:1-2).
True: The most important thing about us is that we're saved and forgiven.
But: We must never forget we're still sinners in daily need of God's grace.
I know I'm a work in progress - I'm growing in Christ, seeking to draw closer to Jesus and be more and more obedient to His commands. But I sometimes fall short.
Paul put it this way:
"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." Philippians 3:12
Let's press on together, fellow believers!
