I imagine that God sometimes gives people clear, complete instructions at the beginning of a project.
But normally, God gives us an "unfolding" plan.
Think about the people of God standing between the Egyptian army and the Red Sea wondering what God was doing. They could see plan A: get killed, or plan B: get drowned.
Then God revealed His plan C: go through the sea on dry ground.
The psalmist wrote about that situation, saying: "Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen" (Psalm 77:19).
There's nothing shameful about being unable to see God's full plans. It even happened to the Apostle Paul. Read Acts 16:6-10 to see what I mean.
God's timing is always perfect, and waiting for His plans to unfold gives us perseverance and builds our faith.
So next time you're stuck between two bad choices, like the Israelites between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army, ask God to show you His plan C—His "footprints beneath the sea."
Gail, how could you have been reading my journal when you're in Hungary and I'm in the U.S.? Of course that's just my way of saying that once again you have delivered God's truth in a timely way to my life. So grateful for you, your faithfulness to your Bible Love Note ministry, and your friendship!
ReplyDeleteIf you believe in a loving all powerful God.
ReplyDeletePlease can you answer this question.
When the hideous suffering and death of good people happens, why does God not prevent it.
Is it because:
A) He's not able to stop it.
B) He does not want to stop it.
C) He does not exist.
If none of the above please give the reason.
Hi Steve,
DeleteSince you left another comment on another post today with the same kind of "question," I'm pretty sure you aren't really interested in hearing the truth, but I'll share it in case someone else reading this comment stream is interested in how to answer people who think they can condense major questions about God to multiple choice.
I believe in an all-powerful, all-loving God who created mankind and gave us free will.
Everything evil....everything evil...is caused my mankind.
Nothing evil...nothing evil...is caused by God.
And one of mankind's evil acts is to mess things up and then blame it on God.
Could God stop all evil? Yes. When mankind messed up God's perfect world, He could have killed us all off and that would have ended all evil. But He chose to give men and women a chance to choose life or death. He knew that many would mock Him and blame Him and never follow Him, but He didn't want those kind of people with Him in heaven anyway.
So, He gave the rest of us a chance to spend eternity in heaven if we'll acknowledge our sins instead of blaming them on Him.
