At age 5, his father was killed trying to make peaceful contact with Ecuador’s Waodani tribe.
At age 10, he began spending summers with the Waodanis, who'd become friendly.
At age 14, two of his father’s murderers (converted Christians) baptized him.
This was Steve Saint’s early life.
I first saw Saint when he and Mincaye, one of his father’s murderers, spoke at the seminary I attended. Powerful!
In 2012, Steve sustained a serious spinal cord injury while testing missionary equipment.
In a video made shortly after his accident, Steve said he had no need to ask God "Why?" because he trusts God's purposes for his life.
And he challenged others to give God everything… “no holds barred… nothing held back.”
Scripture lists a number of saints like Steve and says: “God is not ashamed to be called their God.”
In fact, “the world was not worthy of them” (Hebrews 11:16 & 38).
Let’s pray for this brother in Christ and let his message sink deeply into our souls.
