2 Timothy 2:3-4 - Good Soldiers

My quiet time has been enhanced by creative journaling, and I'd like to share what I've learned from journaling 2 Timothy 2:3-4:

"Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer."

As I drew this picture of a soldier, I pondered what it means to suffer as a good soldier of Christ.

I have some insight in that area because I was an Army wife for 22 years while my husband served.

We were stationed in Germany when the Communist wall divided East and West Germany, and my  husband commanded a tank company that guarded part of the border.

As Christians, we have an enemy named Satan and we need to be alert guarding the border of our heart (Proverbs 4:23).

My soldier husband worked long hours without complaining.

As Christians, we need to be willing to go the extra mile when God calls us to do that.

When my husband had field training or alerts, it didn't matter if it was a holiday or a birthday, he had to go.

As Christians, we also need to make God our priority, putting Jesus first even when it's inconvenient or difficult.

Please read the devotion I wrote about some of these factors: The Enemy at our Border

Creative Tips: I drew this picture with colored pencils by looking at another drawing of a soldier. I couldn't have drawn it without that help.

If you like creative journaling, I recommend my friend Judith's Facebook group: Jesus Journaling.

I also recommend my book Wisdom for Life. It has blank space after most of the devotions where you can journal. Check out the great sales on LifewayAmazon, and CBD.
