 Imagine a God who didn’t care if we were good or evil.

 Imagine a God who had no standards or guidelines, no commands or instructions.

 Imagine a God who saw no difference between the unrepentant child molester or the molested child…who saw no difference between the faithful husband or the unrepentant adulterer.

 Imagine a God who saved those who hated and rejected Him and let them spend eternity with those who loved and honored Him.

 Imagine a God who never punished evil and never rewarded righteousness.

 Imagine a God who didn’t care if His children wallowed in sin or walked in holiness.

 Imagine a God who saw everyone exactly the same and every circumstance as equal.

 I’m grateful God isn't like this.

 But what if we used a description of God’s love that included these characteristics?

What if most Christians used this description even though it isn't found in Scripture, even though it produces huge misunderstandings about God?

 Would you keep using it?

    As a new member, I enjoy your 1 minute Bible love notes.I recently attended a group Bible session where the moderator claimed that "God cannot change evil"....This statement is from a college professor at Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho. Do you have any comments on his theory?

      Hi Hal,
      I'm not altogether sure what the professor means, but Scripture tells us that mankind's sin brought evil into our world and God's plan to save mankind allows evil in our world.

      God is certainly capable of changing evil, and sometimes He intercedes and stops evil here on earth. But I think He more often allows it and uses it to bring about His purposes. Romans 8:28

      And we know that one day, He will completely delete evil in the final judgment.

      C.S. Lewis suggested that our present world with sin, evil, and confusion is a necessary part of God's plan to save us - the best possible world for fallen man to seek and find God. I think that's accurate.

      I'm not sure if that answers your question. Maybe you could ask the professor to more fully explain what he means.
