Upgrading Your Friendship Status

Technology isn't bad unless it distracts us from flesh-and-blood relationships. This 1-minute devotion shares a sad statistic. #Devotions #Friendship. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

A 78-year-old retired schoolteacher died in her home in New York, and no one knew she was dead for 6 months.*

Sadly, technology has changed the way we view relationships, giving us an artificial sense of "connection."

We send texts and emails, but ignore people in the same room. We faithfully check Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram but have no time to visit our parents, pray for our friends, or check on our elderly neighbors.

God places a high priority on the way we treat others (Matthew 22:37-39). He expects us to think about their needs and interests, not simply our Facebook status (Philippians 2:3-4).

There's nothing wrong with enjoying social media unless it causes us to ignore our flesh-and-blood relationships.

In this age of technology, we need to be more deliberate. This week let's ask God to show us someone who needs a meal, a visit, or a hug.

  1. So true! How times have changed.....It takes time and effort to love people...Satan has used technology as a way to stop us from caring...really caring for each other... We are not to grow weary in doing good... even if it takes time and effort...love is an action word..Thanks for your faithfulness to share truth. Blessings!

  2. This is the topic of some of our conversations lately, too, Gail. It makes me so sad, actually. Technology is robbing us of some precious things and the biggest is wholesome face to face relationships. Something appealing about the thought of living in Andy Griffith's Mayberry - no cell phones, computers, ipads...... Continuing loving your posts!! :)

Thanking God for the friends He has given me.
