A Fool's Understanding - Psalm 14:1

This 1-minute devotion addresses the unexplainable: The foolishness of atheism

An atheist wrote: "I'm glad my only hope is not in God."

She went on to say she only trusted things she could see and/or fully understand.

That means she can only believe in a god whose wisdom, knowledge, and capabilities are human, a god who only knows and sees what she knows and sees.

She's right about one thing: we can't fully understand God and we can't control Him. He's infinite and we're finite. We're small and explainable and He's magnificent, beyond our limited understanding.

Scripture says we can never fully know the depth and breadth and height of Christ's love (Ephesians 3:17-19). Nor can we completely understand any aspect of our infinite God because we're finite.

I find comfort in that.

In my opinion, only a fool would want a god her size. And Psalm 14:1 says I've got that part right:

"The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'" Psalm 14:1
