Sophisticated Deceptions

Beware of Deceptive Rhetoric which seeks to justify ungodly behavior in our world. Trust the Bible, not man.

Words can be deceptive. For example, I recently heard a famous abortion advocate claim that "protecting the rights of women" to have abortions advances
"liberty and justice."

Pro-abortion activists believe abortion is a social, moral, and political blessing. And they want it to be completely unrestricted for any reason during the full nine months of pregnancy. Of course, since half the innocent babies killed are female, it's a lie to say it's "protecting the rights of women."

And in regard to advancing liberty and justice, let's look at some similar quotes from the past:

Richmond Enquirer, 1856 – "Democratic liberty exists solely because we have slaves … freedom is not possible without slavery."

Atlanta Confederacy, 1860 – "We regard every man in our midst an enemy to the institutions of the South, who does not boldly declare that he believes African slavery to be a social, moral, and political blessing."

Killing a child does not advance liberty and justice any more than owning a slave did. Abortion, like slavery, exists because a small minority of people demand it and the majority either fall in line or choose to do nothing. But Christians are called to something different:

Beware of Deceptive Rhetoric which seeks to justify ungodly behavior in our world. Trust the Bible, not man.

Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, 'But we knew nothing about this,' does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?”  Proverbs 24:11-12

It's important for Christians to be well-educated about the biblical view of abortion so we are not persuaded by misleading rhetoric like that explained in From Veggie Tales to Situational Ethics. Let's trust God's Word first and foremost: What Scripture Says About Abortion.
