Korah's Foolish Idea About Democracy

We can learn a valuable lesson from Korah's rebellion in Numbers 16. He has a twisted view of democracy and God. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible #Devotions

My husband has a sign on his desk that reads, “Never confuse the will of the majority with the will of God.”

Korah made this mistake in Numbers 16 by starting a rebellion against Moses.

Even though God had proven with signs and wonders that Moses was doing His will, Korah said, “The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the LORD is with them.”

He rallied 250 Israelites in an attempt to overthrow Moses.

But God was leading Moses, and God is a majority of One.

Jude talks about Korah as one example of those who spread false teachings in the Church.

The Korahs among us try to convince us that we should embrace majority values such as sex outside of marriage, homosexuality, transgenderism, and pornography. They appeal to our selfishness and worldliness and claim to speak for God.

They emphasize God’s grace and ignore God’s purity, justice, and righteousness.

Dear Christians, let’s only listen to teachers who represent the Majority of One.

Jude uses three Old Testament examples when describing false teachers. I've written about the other two in these devotions:
