5 Ways to Deal with Discouragement

This 1-minute devotion offers 5 Ways to Deal With Discouragement each one from Scripture.

Here are five ways to deal with discouragement:

1. Don’t believe your comfort depends on the resolution of your problems. God gives comfort in the midst of problems (John 16:33).

See I Can't Be Happy Unless...

2. Confide in a friend who will lovingly but firmly help you change your perspective, reminding you of God's faithfulness (Galatians 6:2).

See 3 Benefits of Praying with a Friend.

3. Try to take your focus off of your problems and think of ways you might encourage others (Philippians 2:3-4).

See Beatin' the Blues.

4. Remember you can face anything with the Lord’s help (Philippians 4:13).

See Scripture to Recite or Memorize when You Want to Overcome Worry

5. Deliberately take time to remember all that God has done for you. Count your blessings, write them down, repeat them aloud several times a day, and hang a list of them where you see it often (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

See Stones of Remembrance.

Feeling rejected and unloved, too troubled to speak, full of questions and fears, the psalmist wrote: “I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds” (Psalm 77:11-12).

It's always helpful to dwell on God's faithfulness.
