If you've never tried adding this to your prayer life, you'll be pleased with the power and wisdom it gives.

God isn’t impressed with flowery, poetic, or grammatically correct prayers. He listens to our hearts. We don't have to say certain words in order to be heard. Our heavenly Father loves us and wants us to talk to Him throughout our day.

And while there isn't anything magical about praying Scripture, some passages especially lend themselves to this purpose and can be a powerful and meaningful addition to our prayer life.

We should read Scripture, recite it, memorize it, obey it, trust it, and pray it because “the word of God is alive and active” (Hebrews 4:12). 

Sometimes I type Scripture passages on cards and pray them for specific people.

Today, I’m going to pray for you as an example, and “this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:9-11

  2. Gail, as always, your posts are powerful and practical. I also pray Scripture for myself and for others. One of my favorites is Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Thanks for praying God's Word for us today!
