The Day God Quit Whispering

God quit whispering at this important time in history and it's about His birthday and ours...this 1-minute devotion explains.

When we lived in Budapest, Hungary, I gave a women's seminar called “The Bible’s Love Story.” It was an overview of the Bible starting in Genesis and going through Revelation, highlighting God’s persevering love.*

I used this analogy to explain the unfolding of Christ's mission: God “whispered” about Christ in the Old Testament. When Christ was born, God began “speaking out loud.” When Christ died, God “cried out.” And when He was resurrected, God “sang.”

When Adam and Eve brought sin into our world, God spoke to the serpent and “whispered” about our ongoing battle against Satan and the victory Christ would eventually bring:

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel” (Genesis 3:15).

Christ’s birth was already planned, but God was waiting for the perfect moment to complete His plan. Mankind had a great deal to learn about sin, the law, and human failure before we could fully understand our need for Christ.

But when the perfect time came, God sent His Son (Galatians 4:4-5).

In a couple of days, we will be celebrating the day God quit whispering and began speaking out loud, announcing the birth of His Son and our Savior (Luke 2:8-20).

And for those of us who have committed our lives to Christ, this holiday reminds us of our rebirth (1 Peter 1:23; 2 Corinthians 5:17). Christ was born that we might be reborn. Christmas is a double birthday celebration for us!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Galatians 4:4-5 (AMPC)When the proper time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born subject to [the regulations of] the Law, to purchase the freedom of (to ransom, to redeem, to atone for) those who were subject to the Law, that we might be adopted and have sonship conferred upon us [and be recognized as God’s sons].

* I recently downloaded the videos for this seminar on Bible Love Note's YouTube channel. The quality of the videos isn't the best because they were taped about fifteen years ago, but the sound is good, and I think you'll still be able to enjoy it. This is the purely English version, but my normal presentation was translated into Hungarian, and it was both a good tool for sharing the gospel and also for helping Christians better understand the love of God. Check it out here: The Bible's Love Story. I hope to eventually update it with a better video and PowerPoint.
