We Need It: God’s Word

When we become Christians, we enter into the most wonderful, challenging, difficult, satisfying, interesting, inspiring, life-changing adventure in our lives. 

It’s fulfilling and worthwhile, but it’s not easy. That’s why God has given us a wonderful guidebook to explain His creation design, tell the unfolding story of our salvation, reveal His incredible love, and give careful instructions for the well-being of our souls. 

We seek counsel, guidance, wisdom, joy, and love in God's Word because the Bible:

1. Does not contain mistakes. 

It's “flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times” (Psalm 12:6). 

2. Is not outdated.

It's “eternal; it stands firm in the heavens” (Psalm 119:89).

 

3. Guides us perfectly.

It's “a lamp to guide [our] feet and a light for [our] path” (Psalm 119:105). 

4. Explains our salvation.

It's “the power of God that brings salvation” (Romans 1:16).

 

5. Is fully inspired by God and necessary for our faith.

It's “God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). 

6. Is living truth that judges all things.

It's “alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword” judging “thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). 

Well, I could just keep going, explaining wonderful things about God’s Word, but it would be more than my 1-minute format. So please ponder these wonderful truths, and in Wednesday's Bible Love Note I’ll be bragging on God’s Word some more!
