There's No "Away" for People or Plastic

We need to quit using this term because it's not biblical. Do you know why?

"Someday you will read in the papers that D.L. Moody...is dead. Don't you believe a word of it! At that moment I shall be more alive than I am now." ~ D.L. Moody

Environmentalists remind us when we "throw away" plastics, there's no "away."

This is even more significant when it comes to human beings. We don't get recycled like Karma teaches, and we don't actually "pass away."

When we die, we're "away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8).

Paul wanted to live his life in service to the Lord, but he admitted in Philippians 1:23-24, "I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body."

Moody expressed it well: when Christians die, we will actually be more alive than we have ever been!

In contrast, those who refuse to accept Christ as Lord and Savior will pass on to Hell--the place of eternal torment. And that, dear Christians, is why we must share the good news about Christ while there is still time!

  1. Ernie Haase of Ernie Haase and Signature Sound described it this way - "When you hold the hand of someone you love and watch them burst into Eternity, death takes on a whole new meaning". I loved that. "Burst into Eternity" So very very true.

  2. Eccl. 9:5-7 says the dead are dead...1 Thess. 4:13-17 paints a vivid picture and calls us out if ignorance regarding the state of the dead. Why will the dead in Christ have to rise first if they have been in heaven all along. Death is not a entrance into heaven or hell but a co nsequence of Adam and Eve's fall. We ère not created for death. Death is not of God...an enemy has done this.

    1. Hi Dee, I'm not sure I understand your point. But perhaps this quote from GotQuestions.org will help:

"For the believer in Jesus Christ, the Bible tells us that after death believers’ souls/spirits are taken to heaven, because their sins are forgiven by having received Christ as Savior (John 3:16, 18, 36). For believers, death is to be “away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). However, passages such as 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 describe believers being resurrected and given glorified bodies. If believers go to be with Christ immediately after death, what is the purpose of this resurrection? It seems that while the souls/spirits of believers go to be with Christ immediately after death, the physical body remains in the grave “sleeping.” At the resurrection of believers, the physical body is resurrected, glorified, and then reunited with the soul/spirit. This reunited and glorified body-soul-spirit will be the possession of believers for eternity in the new heavens and new earth (Revelation 21-22)."

    2. That is defined right when it comes to our body it sleeps and knows nothing but of course our consciousness is with God. Many do not understand this and think that the soul sleeps in the grave. God reunites you with your body no matter what whether it’s had been burnt thrown at sea. It is God of the impossible. Who are we to ask for His ID!

Time to seek a church that's HolySpirit REAL

  4. Many churches teach about hell. There is also a website to check out amazingfacts.org "truth about hell" that accurately lines up with biblical scripture. Sola Scriptura, the Bible and the Bible only.
