We are living in a time when deception is rampant. Christians must be extremely careful to test everything by God's Word (Colossians 2:8).
Because we're faced with such great errors, we might be tempted to overlook the small errors, but faithfulness in the small things is also important:
“Whoever
can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and
whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” Luke 16:10 (1)
It's one way we avoid accepting “another Jesus” as Paul rebuked some in the Corinthian church for doing (2 Corinthians 11:3-4).
So let's be like the noble Bereans, carefully judging all things by God's Word:
“The Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” Acts 17:11
“Every
word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in
him. Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a
liar.” Proverbs 30:5-6
