Spiritually Weak People Don't Repent

Why are there some people who never admit they're wrong no matter what?

Why are some people unwilling to genuinely apologize when they’re wrong?

You know who I mean. The person who does something rude, critical, unfair, selfish, or dishonest, but when you call them on it, they excuse, downplay, or deny it. Or they blame it on you.

They may even apologize but only after they’ve made it clear they did nothing wrong.

If we ask psychologists why some people are like this, they might tell us they’re victims of a poor self-image.

If we ask God, He says they’re deceived and have no room for His Word in their hearts:

Why are there some people who never admit they're wrong no matter what?“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.” 1 John 1:8-10

People who refuse to admit their sins may feel superior and strong. But they are actually the worst kind of weak.

Now, let’s be honest. We may not be the person who never apologizes, but we all have that tendency.

So let’s remember that real strength is found in honest repentance.
