Have You Counted the Cost?

Many modern Christians think there's no cost to following Christ, but this directly contradicts the words of Christ. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

Works and obedience don't save us, but genuine salvation always results in works and obedience.

Jesus said, “If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love…” John 15:10

Scripture emphasizes this link between salvation and obedience: John 8:51; John 14:15; John 14:21; John 14:23; 1 John 2:3; 1 John 3:61 John 5:3; and 2 John 1:6

It's important we grasp this truth because there will always be people watering down the Gospel, claiming those under grace need not worry about their sins.

Paul faced this attitude in the early church and said: “should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?” Romans 6:1-2

Christ tells each man to count the cost before accepting salvation (Matthew 10:38; Luke 14:25-35), because salvation starts a new life (2 Corinthians 5:17), a life of self-denial (Matthew 16:24) and serious work (Philippians 2:12-13; Ephesians 2:10).

Have you grasped this truth?
