Have Christians Forgotten How Much God Hates Sin?

3 Reasons Christians should look at their personal sins seriously

Perhaps the biggest problem in current Christian thought is our soft attitude toward sin.

I hear it in the "judge not" misunderstanding, the "God loves me just the way I am" misunderstanding, and the "tolerance" misunderstanding.(1)

It doesn't line up with Scripture.

In fact, it resembles heresies Paul addressed in the early Church: "Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?"  Romans 6:1-4  (See also Romans 3:5-8)

We've forgotten:

1. Everyday the "wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness" (Romans 1:18).

2. God says anyone who isn't serious about sin is a liar, not a Christian (1 John 2:3-6).

3. We can choose to be a slave to sin or free in Christ, not both (John 8:34-36).

Do we love Jesus enough to deal with our sins deliberately and diligently? Our daily lives should include confession, repentance, and life-changing, sin-defeating disciplines.

  2. "Toleance" is the lie people use to justify sin.
