Psalm 12 for Today

When God inspired David to write Psalm 12, He knew how much it would apply to us today. This 1-minute devotion explains.

When God inspired David to write Psalm 12, I imagine He was thinking ahead to the many, many events in history to which it would apply.

"Help, LORD, for the godly man ceases to be ... The wicked strut about on every side when vileness is exalted among the sons of men" (verse 1,8).

Left to our own "wisdom," we reject God's loving warnings and slide deeper into sin (Romans 1:16-32).

Our current culture often calls God's commands "stupid," "unrealistic," "out-of-date," and even "hateful" no matter how lovingly we speak them. Our culture wants us to respect and honor things which God calls sinful (verse 4).

But God's Word doesn't need man's approval.

"The words of the LORD are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times" (verse 6).

Man's wisdom devolves; God's Word stands firm. Let's stand on what is forever firm.
