I started writing Bible Love Notes to slay a giant: I was at a low point in my life and I needed to overcome discouragement, change my perspective, and build my faith.
I'd love to create winsome fictional characters and heartwarming storylines like Jan Karon, or write with incredible logic, wisdom and clarity like C. S. Lewis, or mix hard truths with humor like G. K. Chesterton. But I can't.
My gift is pretty humble in comparison: condensing a spiritual truth into a 1-minute online read.
As a young man, before his reign as king, David's gift was humble too. He was a boy with a slingshot in the midst of experienced soldiers.
But David combined his humble skill with faith, picked up five smooth stones and slew Goliath.
Sometimes we envy those with more skills than we have. But we shouldn't!
Humble gifts, when combined with faith, are a powerful weapon.
Like David, we need to recognize that giants are slain not by "sword and spear and javelin" but by small things done in the Name of the Lord (1 Samuel 17:45-47).

You've heard the maxim, "Less is more". That's how I feel about your writing. You get your point across and tell truth in a short message. You live up to your promise, "an espresso shot of Scripture". There's a lot of "meat" in the "shot".
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words, Carol. You are an encouragement!
