Do You Know the Benefits of Facing Your Sins with No Excuses?

Do you know what contrite means and why God favors those who are contrite? This devotion explains.

When we ask forgiveness, we should be sincerely repentant, genuinely sorry for what we've done and grateful to be forgiven.

This is what it means to be contrite, and contrition is an important aspect of our Christian life. It keeps us humble and honest.

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts” (1 John 1:8-10 NLT).

Contrition also draws us closer to Christ and brings us God's favor because God declares, “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word (Isaiah 66:2).

So let's make sure that we view our sins as God views them and enjoy the refreshment of sincere repentance (Acts 3:19).
