According to legend, thousands of years before Christ, the Greeks ended a ten-year siege of Troy by entering the city in a giant, hollow, wooden horse.
The Trojans, thinking the horse a gift, brought it into the city where enemy soldiers crept out at night and opened the gates for the Greek Army. What the Trojans thought was a gift was actually their destruction.
Hence the phrase: Beware Greeks bearing gifts.
Satan also has a Trojan horse filled with hollow philosophies that are destroying our understanding of God. And we Christians have brought this horse into the Church thinking it's a gift.
These philosophies are based on human wisdom and they appeal to our fallen human nature because they are self-focused, not God-focused.
That's why Scripture warns us: "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ." Colossians 2:8
May God give us strength to fight these false philosophies that have infiltrated the Church.

ReplyDeleteYes! It's amazing how much truth you're able to pack into these little 1 minute devotions. This subject in particular is near and dear to my heart as God has been challenging me with these same thoughts lately. Can't wait to read again next Monday!

ReplyDeleteThe Ten Commandments are NOT the "Ten Suggestions"!
ReplyDeleteI feel the 'properity' idea, that you will be continuously 'blessed' with material fortunes if you are a 'victorious' Christian is a prime example of a 'Trojan horse'.
ReplyDeleteJesus told us that.... in this world we would have troubles but that He has overcome the world. - Jayne
You are NOT quoting out of the King James Bible. All the verses on here are lies!!!
ReplyDeleteTrueBeliever,
DeleteBelow are some pertinent passage from the KJV that talk about how a Christian would express their opinion if they think another Christian is doing something wrong. These passages would apply to comments on a Christian blog:
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." Ephesians 4:29 KJV
"In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;" 2 Timothy 2:25 KJV
"Brothers, if someone is caught in a trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him with a spirit of gentleness. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted." 2 Timothy 2:25 KJV
" Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand." Romans 14:4 KJV
"Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." Colossians 4:6 KJV
Do you think that your comment reflects these truths from the KJV?
I’m sorry that you have been taught the KJV Only teachings because they are not accurate and they unjustly condemn many Godly Christians, some of whom have died for their faith, gaining their strength and wisdom from translations of God’s Word which you call lies. They condemn great evangelists who have given their lives for the Gospel, trusting modern translations.
I’m sorry you have been taught the KJV Only teachings because they twist a great many facts, claiming there are “missing” verses in the modern translations when the truth is that the KJV was translated from the only ancient manuscripts available at the time of its translation and the older, more reliable manuscripts (the Dead Sea Scrolls) were discovered later. Those more reliable manuscripts prove the some verses in the KJV were added by scribes. They were not part of the original text of God’s Word.
All translations have their strengths and weaknesses, but KJV Only teachers fail to mention the errors in the KJV. For example: ➤The KJV seriously miss-translates Isaiah 45:7 this way: “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.” God does not create evil and that is not what the Greek says. ➤ Another example: the KJV miss-translates the Greek word "passover" as "Easter" in Acts 12:4
The most reliable source of Scripture is not found in English or Spanish or any modern language. It is found in the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts. Exalting an English translation is a very dangerous thing to do.
