Harvest Year Round

There are two kinds of waiting - one good, one bad. Christians are called to do the one but not the other. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

"Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle." ~ Unknown

There are times we must wait patiently in life. In fact, God often does great work in our hearts during our “waiting room” periods (Psalm 27:14; Psalm 130:5; James 5:7).

But there are two kinds of waiting, and this quote addresses the other kind…the kind of waiting caused by laziness, fear, irresponsibility, busyness and distraction.

Even in our “waiting room” periods of life, God expects us to be doing kingdom work: sharing our faith, love, and resources, and growing in our understanding and knowledge of Him.

Jesus reminded His disciples of this while He was on earth: “Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” John 4:35

What ripe fields are in your view today (Ephesians 2:10)?

  1. A thank you from Holland! Thanks you for this: "God expects us to be doing kingdom work: sharing our faith, sharing our love, sharing our resources." Yes, I'll try it again with Gods help.

    Big hug.

  3. I used to think I had to wait, kind of like holding my breath, not moving kind of waiting - until I learned that sometimes the answered prayer is a journey and the most important things happen in the waiting part of that journey! Blessings to you this weekend!

  4. Oh, it's so easy to become complacent in our waiting. May be "open our eyes" as John 4:35 says and get busy. I guess people assume when God says to "be still and know", it literally means "do not move". But this isn't true. ;)

  5. I think this is a waiting period of my life :-) Mothering is such a blessing and I think often we are in a waiting pattern as our children go through those years where they choose the direction for their life. We are waiting to see Who, or who they will choose.

  6. I am waiting for retirement in 2 1/2 years. I don't want my life to go by or my grandkids to grow up so fast. I need to look to my faith more and the cale der less. Thank you for this great blessing I found today.
