Pagan Chant Compromises Republican Convention

We must address the serious nature of the Sikh prayer at the Republican National Convention.
Because I want to save unborn babies, I maintain my belief that the Republican platform is by far preferable to the Democratic platform in America, but I will not remain silent when the Republican party does something ungodly.

Pagan Chant

I'm deeply grieved that the Republican party evoked a pagan god to bless their convention.

Scripture is clear: the gods of other religions are demons:

The sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons. Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he?1 Corinthians 10:20-22

Christians offend God and damage our discernment by partnering with unbelievers:

“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

When I listened to the video about Harmeet Dhillon's Sikh prayer, I cringed when she began her pagan chant to a god who claims to be the only true god and creator.

Her prayer translates, This body and soul are yours. You are our mother and father, and we are your children. In your grace and through your benevolence, we experience peace and happiness! She went on to thank the Sikh god for saving Trump's life.

Ways this prayer has been justified:

1. False Claim: Sikhs worship the same God as Jews and Christians.

The Sikh religion was founded on the beliefs of Guru Nanak, born in 1469. He said a “single divine force” created the world and resides in it. Therefore, all people are “equally divine.” (source

In 1699, Guru Gobind Singh instituted the Khalsa. Members initiated into the Khalsa must practice the 5 K's which involve not cutting their hair, wearing a special bracelet, using a wooden comb, wearing a special kind of undershorts, and carrying a knife/sword. (Britannica)

Although the Sikhs believe that the gods of all religions are the same god, they do not believe Jesus is God. They also believe in reincarnation.

2. Excuse: “Her prayer was a reflection of the freedom of religion we respect in America.”

America has a gracious attitude toward other religions, allowing freedom of worship. But that doesn't mean we promote or affirm false gods in our laws or public ceremonies.

America was founded on biblical principles, and even though we have violated those principles at times (e.g. slavery), we have had a better record than most nations regarding the humane and equal treatment of people.

However, as we've moved away from those biblical principles, hateful rhetoric against Christians has flourished.

We must address the serious nature of the Sikh prayer at the Republican National Convention.
Excuse: “What's the big deal. It's only a prayer?”

We must never forget that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12

It would have been better to have no prayer than to have the chanted blessing of a false god. I believe the Sikh prayer put a curse on the convention, not a blessing.

Nor do I think the Republicans will gain votes from this inclusive prayer.

There are far more Christians than Sikhs in the Republican party. Having a Sikh prayer offended more than it pleased. If any genuine Christians were involved in that decision, they seriously lack discernment.

And in keeping with the decline of biblical principles in our country, this Sikh prayer has brought more persecution to Christians.

Any disagreement from Christians, no matter how graciously given, is defined as hate by the press and by Harmeet Dhillon. (source

There are hateful representatives in all religions, and I don't doubt that some who called themselves Christians said unkind things about this prayer. But overall, Christians have shown mature concern. I never hear people with different beliefs called haters for disagreeing with Christians even if they do so in unkind ways. But no matter how graciously a Christians disagrees, he/she is called a hater.

The Sikh god is one of Satan's false gods who leads people to their spiritual deaths. If we care about mankind, we should be concerned that the Republican party chose to honor that demonic god.

  1. My biggest issues is that the Republicans are using religion as a gimmick to sway people. I don't think that God is not pleased with that. I didn't watch that convention nor had I heard anything about the prayer that was given. I can't vote for a person who displays so much hatred yet calls himself a Christian nor compares himself to God regardless if they are against abortion they do so many other things that God has spoken against in The Word.

    1. Each person will make their decision to vote, but for the Christian, there are only two biblical options - abstaining from voting for the Presidential candidate or voting Republican.

      It's about Platforms, not personalities.

If you feel you can't in good conscience vote for Trump due to his character, you must make the same decision about Harris.

Harris also claims to be a Christian, but she has been a rabid supporter of killing babies in the womb for any and every reason without limitation.

She voted against the Born Alive Act which requires doctors to give medical care to babies born alive during an abortion.

And she wants no limitations on abortions even though she is informed enough to know that in late term abortions they pull the limbs off fully formed babies and crush their skulls without anesthetic.

Harris continually claims that she and the Democrats don't want abortion up to the day of delivery, but her voting record and her public statements reveal she is a 100% liar in that area.

If you judge Trump biblically, you are absolutely correct in saying He has violated God's commands. If you judge Harris biblically, she has done the same. But we are not voting for dictators or kings in America. We are voting for political platforms.

As I make 100% clear in this post, I don't agree with some things the Republican party is doing, but none of those things compares to the demand for unlimited killing of babies.

If you think that issue is less biblical or less important to God than Trump's character, you are fooling yourself.

Each of us will be held accountable for what we did or failed to do about abortion, and in this election, no other issue is more clearly biblically evil than abortion.

If you come up to a street corner and see a woman trying to kill her little boy and a local criminal steps in to save the boy, are you going to put him in handcuffs and refuse to let him save the child because he has low character? Is that more important than saving that little boy?

We can do nothing to change the character of Trump or Harris. That's not what we're voting for. But we can do something to change our countries laws about abortion.

You say the Republicans are against abortion, but "they do so many other things that God has spoken against in The Word." Please explain. What in the Republican platform is against God's Word? I'm not talking about Trump. I'm talking about the platform.

Now, do the same with the Democratic platform.

I don't agree with everything in the Republican platform, but nothing in it is as evil as the Democratic platform on abortion.

  2. Thank you so much for standing firm for the Truth. Some of the issues are hard to hear, but you don't shy away and I always come away wanting to do better, to be better, to be bolder for the Lord. I know I am hearing His truth. God bless you for this ministry.
