Be Prepared: Recognize that True Christianity Is Counter-Culture

Christians are facing increased persecution and this 1-minute devotion explains why we must refuse to conform to culture.
This is the second part of the Be Prepared for Persecution series. See Part 1: Acknowledging that Our Challenges Are Serious.

I admit it, I’m often shocked by culture. When an outspoken atheist like Richard Dawkins is censored for claiming that science proves there are only two genders, you know Satan is more active than ever (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Remnant believers understand that we must be aggressively counter-culture because worldly values always contradict God's values (1 John 2:15-17).

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:2).

The passage below is one we all need to memorize if we are going to be prepared for the increased persecution we are facing:

If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you (John 15:19).

Many Christians think that we can be popular and make Christianity popular if we act like Christ. Not true. Acting like Christ means believing and obeying Scripture regarding sex, gender, abortion, personal responsibility, etc. And that is why Christlike Christians are being called hateful, self-righteous, and even dangerous.

If we're going to be prepared for the increasing persecution, we must realize that we don't belong to the world (Matthew 16:24-26).

If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God (James 4:4).
