7 Important Truths about God's Love

Enjoy these 7 wonderful facts about God's Love!

Today's post is longer than our usual 1-minute read because it contains the full Scripture passages. Enjoy reading through these seven important truths about our God's love!

💙 1. God's love is proactive, sacrificial, and undeserved.

We don't have to chase after God. He patiently pursues us, giving us the opportunity to accept Him and become His child even though we are undeserving sinners.

John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

John 15:13: "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."

Romans 5:8: "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Ephesians 2:4-5: "But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved."

1 John 4:10: "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."

Galatians 2:20: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

💙 2. When people discredit God's wrath, they show they don't understand how loving and patient God is with rebellious men.

God is not like us. He doesn't do anything selfishly, foolishly, or impulsively. We can't judge people perfectly, but God can and does. If it weren't for His loving patience, we'd all be lost!

Psalm 86:15: "But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness."

Psalm 103:8: "The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love."

Lamentations 3:22: "Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail."

💙 3. His love for His people is permanent.

We will enjoy His love for eternity!

Psalm 136:26: "Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever."

4. God actually delights in us when we turn to Him.

What a wonderful feeling to know that God enjoys us.

Zephaniah 3:17: "The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing."

💙 5. God has a general type of love for the whole world, offering them salvation. But His fatherly love is reserved for His followers.

Scripture makes this very clear.

Deuteronomy 7:9: "Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments."

John 15:9-10: "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love."

1 John 3:1: "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him."

6. Nothing can separate God's people from His love.

Romans 8:35-39: "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: 'For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.' No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

💙 7. God's love changes us.

When we accept God's love, we are able to genuinely love others, and we are able to suffer hardships for our faith.

1 John 4:7-8: "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."

1 John 4:16: "We know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them."

1 John 4:19: "We love because he first loved us."

Romans 5:1-5: "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."

  1. I often share your "Love Notes" at a women's prison where I lead a Bible Study. This one has me so excited! You are so concise and always bring out Truth. You help me share with women who have no background with or understanding of Christ. Thank you, I really appreciate your willingness to serve the King of Kings. It is an example to me.
