Pride Comes Before Destruction

We need to take pride in those things that God says are worthy of pride.

Scripture tells us that when cultures turn against God, they take pride in evil things.
They call evil
good, and they call good evil (Isaiah 5:20).

Romans 1:18-32 explains the process:

✔ First, peoplesuppress the truth, denying God and His laws (vv. 18-20).

Their thinking becomes futile and their foolish hearts are darkened” (vv. 21-23).

Then God “gives them over” to their sins, “for the degrading of their bodies with one another” (v. 24).

They worship the creation instead of the Creator (v. 25).

Then God “gives them over” to “shameful lusts,” men having sex with men and women having sex with women (vv. 26-27).

✔ Finally, they become so evil that God “gives them over” to a “depraved mind,” and they not only practice all kinds of evil, they “approve of those who practice” evil (vv. 28-32).

This month people, governments, and organizations all over the world are celebrating LGBTQ "Pride," approving lifestyles that God says damage people's souls. Many of these “celebrations” include nudity and sexually explicit displays.

“The wicked strut about on every side when vileness is exalted among the sons of mankind.” Psalm 12:8

It grieves God's heart to see people take "pride" in their sins, and it should also grieve ours.

💙 Beyond 1-minute for those who want more ðŸ’™

We need to take pride in those things that God says are worthy of pride.

See: Did You Know there's a Passage in Scripture that Addresses Gay Pride?

What does it mean when this passage says God “gives them over”?

Let me share this succinct answer from Got Questions: "As the godless run farther and farther from God, God intervenes less and less. The Spirit's restraint of sin is a blessing, and if that restraint is removed, all wickedness follows."

God doesn't cause anyone to sin, but when people continually reject His voice, He steps back. They can repent at any stage of this process, and there are examples of those who have followed this evil path and then turned to God. But the deeper we get into our sins and the more we deny God's truth, the farther we get from redemption.

 The rainbow 🌈

Genesis 6:5-6 says, "The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled."

At that time, God found only one righteous man on the earth, so He sent the great flood to destroy rebellious, wicked mankind. After the flood, He put a rainbow in the sky as a symbol of his covenant with this righteous man and his family (Genesis 9:13-16).

It's sad, ironic, and blasphemous that the LGBTQ movement uses this symbol to represent their rejection of God's design, commands, and covenants.

June is called LGBTQ Pride Month, and parades are labeled LGBTQ Pride events. When people refuse to humbly accept God's wisdom and design, they exhibit the kind of pride addressed in Proverbs 16:18 which says, "Pride goes before destruction...."

Christians are being pressured to approve of things that God disapproves of.

True believers will trust God's design and stand firm, knowing God condemns LGBTQ lifestyles for important, loving reasons. Please see the extensive list of Old and New Testament passages warning against homosexual behavior: Homosexuality

God describes our current situation.

Proverbs 24:24: "Whoever says to the guilty, 'You are innocent,' will be cursed by peoples and denounced by nations."

Habakkuk 1:4: "Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted."

Isaiah 5:20: "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter."

False teachings

Many LGBTQ people mock and revile God's Word, others have created false teachings which claim God approves of these sins. What God said to the wicked in Malachi applies to these false teachers today:

Malachi 2:17: "You have wearied the LORD with your words. 'How have we wearied him?' you ask. By saying, 'All who do evil are good in the eyes of the LORD, and he is pleased with them' or 'Where is the God of justice?'"

  1. I am glad to see the scripture explaining exactly what happens to people who engage in same sex relations. So many people are so wrong in their belief, they need to wake up!
